goodbyes

goodbyes

Yesterday was my last day at work. I am now officially jobless. I spent today lazing around, continuing my Great Purge of Things, and met a coworker for lunch. The first part was easy. Woke up late (around 07:00), made coffee, and watched an episode of “Vikings” and snuggled with the doggies in bed. The second part, the Great Purge continuation, was more difficult. The plan is to donate or sell anything that is not immediately useful or incredibly sentimental….

Thankful

Thankful

After a few rough years in Northern Arizona, I am initially thankful that I am able to quit my job and hit the road. I have the usual thankfuls: family, friends, dogs, health. But ultimately, I am thankful for not giving up. The one thing that has been at my core my entire life is the knowledge that ‘things change’. It’s easy to lose track of the day of the week out here. I wish I could lose it altogether. I stopped at a little Sharky’s Shack in Klamath Falls, OR. Found it on Yelp as I passed through and decided to stop for a sandwich. I chatted with the woman behind the counter who turned out to be the owner. I don’t remember what all we talked about, but it was a good laughter-filled brief discussion while she made…

My drive up the coast from the Oregon Dunes was mystical. I got up pre-sunrise, as usual, and the light was just peeking out when I got going. Visiting old friends but one of their dogs doesn’t get along with Argos, so we are driveway campering. One thing about the coast is that it’s damp. Wet and dirty -which means the camper is constantly damp and dirty. I know not to go to close to the edge, but I didn’t…
